Welcome, Residents!
This page is designed for residents of FirstService Residential–managed communities who need an event liability insurance option when hosting a private event.
Whether you’re:
Hosting a birthday party in the clubhouse
Celebrating a graduation
Planning a bridal or baby shower
this coverage helps protect you, your guests, and the community space so you can enjoy your event with peace of mind.
What Does Insurance for Event Liability Insurance Cover?
When you host an event in your community’s shared spaces, you take on added responsibility as the event host. Event liability insurance helps protect you from unexpected incidents that may occur during your gathering.
Coverage may help with claims related to:
Guest injuries
Damage to community property or rented equipment*
Alcohol-related incidents at hosted events **
For example:
If a guest slips and falls in the clubhouse, liability coverage can help pay for medical expenses
If decorations, furniture, or sound equipment damage the clubhouse or event space, coverage can help cover repair costs
If alcohol is served and an incident occurs, host liquor liability coverage can help manage the financial responsibility
This coverage allows you to enjoy your event with added peace of mind while helping protect both you and the community.
*Does not cover damages to your own property, decor, or owned items. Only intended to cover damages to rentals or those of your guests.
**Liquor liability insurance is only included if alcohol is complimentary (not sold).
Event Insurance Coverage Limits
Event hosts need a variety of insurance coverages to sufficiently shield themselves from claims, including:
- General Liability
- Products-Completed Operations
- Damage to Premises Rented to You
- Personal and Advertising Injury
Additional Insureds extend liability protection to other parties involved in your event. Residents will need the following additional insureds:
- The corporate company.
- The local FirstService Residential community with a Waiver of Subrogation endorsement.
Outside vendors should list the local community and corporate company as Additional Insureds on their own policies.
